Following a 9-month renovation, the Bethesda Library (7400 Arlington Road) reopened on April 14. 2018. The Library has been renamed the Connie Morella Library, in honor of the longtime Bethesda resident. Ms. Morella represented area residents for 8 years in the Maryland General Assembly, and for 16 years in the US House of Representatives. After leaving the House, she was appointed Ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
On a beautiful spring day, the dedication ceremony drew a large crowd of local residents and dignitaries, including Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, Montgomery County Council President Hans Reimer, Representative Jamie Raskin, and many others. Longtime Bethesda resident Cokie Roberts gave the dedication address.
